Currently looking at the Harston House project

The refurbishment of a 5 storey residential block at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge, to provide upgraded housing for student healthcare professionals.  The scheme required the internal refurbishment of the 260 bedrooms, communal kitchen and shower facilities, to provide 240 bedrooms and welfare facilities, a proportion of which were adapted for improved accessibility.

Externally the façade was renovated to improve thermal performance with a rendered external wall insulation system and replacement fenestration. The roof was over laid with an insulated, built up felt roofing system.

The mechanical and electrical service package included the installation of an array of photo voltaic panels to contribute to the water heating. Lighting was replaced with LED fittings throughout.

The programme was to be phased over two 6-month periods, with half of the building being in the possession of the Principal Contractor, and the other half remaining in occupation by residents. A period for decanting residents to the newly refurbished part was allowed at the six month stage.
